Kitsch-Inn is the onsite restaurant of Tigerfish lodge, a perfect getaway and location for affordable accommodation for those that just need a place to stay overnight. Due to popular demand of their food and service standards the restaurant is open to the public. They have a small dinning area for the guesthouse residents as well as for the public. The Menu is everchanging according to the freshest produce available to us. Alongside a very cosy atmosphere you will receive the best food and cocktails in the area with personable service at affordable prices. Kitsch-Inn can prepare packed lunches for your excursions or cater for functions on the premises or off.
I am recommending the Restaurant not the Lodge as I have not stayed in the Lodge.

NUARRO PROMOTIONAL OFFERS 2009, click here !!
While planning my July/August trip to northern Mozambique, I ran across this offer. This lodge has been recommended to me by Natalie at Dana Tours as well, so I am sure it is a good destination. Check out their exceptionally good rates….As your local northern Moz. Expert, I can assure you that this is an outstanding deal.
The lodge specializes in the following activities:
Marine Activity Centre
The local bay’s combination of dramatic bottom topography, water visibility, easy reef access, and coral/fish diversity is truly world class and ideal for all diving levels.
The centre will offer an extensive array of guest activities to include:
All levels of SCUBA diving instruction and certified diving
- Snorkelling
- Sea kayaking
- Whale and Dolphin watching
- Dhow sailing trips to Nacala Port, Ilha de Moçambique and Lúrio Falls
- Sunset dhow cruise
- Road tours and 4x4 transportation to Ilha de Mozambique, Nacala Porto and Lúrio Falls
- Trip to Baixo – do – Pinda light house and fishing village
- Eco-trails (by bicycle or on foot)
- Bird watching
- Cultural village tour and interactive activities with local Makua villagers
MATALANE - Malangatana's Cultural Center (Tip from Klara)
Matalane is well worth a visit. It is Malangatana's Cultural Center. Malangatana is Mozambique's best known visual artist who was named UNESCO Artist for Peace in 1997. The center is located on the EN 1 ca 8kms north of Marraquene. Look for the "Matalane" sign board (which may refer to a police station or a school) on the left hand side of the road. There you will see a cultural village whose houses have been painted by Malangatana himself, in addition to a music school and musicians. If you plan to stay a while, be sure and take something for a picnic. Please click here to see more information about Malangatana.
Incomati River Lodge's Lounge Area - Incomati River Lodge (Tip from Celesta)

It is located just north of Maputoon Macaneta. The lodge is located on the river, not the beach. It offers a quiet get away with good food and plenty of natural surroundings. It has very nice en-suite chalets which are not only clean, but also very roomy. Some of these chalets overlook the Incomati, and some overlook the forest in which the lodge is located. All have a wooden deck. Mark and Dominique, the managing staff at the lodge are both very helpful. They also offer canoeing, horseback riding and bushwalks with their English speaking guide, Bennie. You can contact Henry on +258 82 786 1450 or Dee on +258 82 545 6233 for details. We paid 650 Rand per person, which included all our walks, canoeing and great meals as well as the accommodation. Do call ahead of time, as getting their after heavy rains can be a challenge.
Old Joe's Kaia (Tip from Celesta)
Located 49 kilometers toward Johannesburg on the N4 (Schoenmanskloof). Paul and Marian have been running Old Joe’s now for three years, and their hard work is paying off. The lodge has been refurbished with care and style. The food is home made gourmet, but above all the service is very friendly and personal. Contact them at +27 13 733 3045/6 or info@oldjoes.co.za. See their website at www.oldjoes.co.za for beautiful images of their place. Our weekend there for 3 persons including Dinner/Bed/Breakfast came to just under R3,000. They do have an upcoming event, if you are a birder, click here for details.
Tips for Vilanculos
Kathryn Soper recommends Pescador 293 82312 for excellent dining. They also have accommodations. Celesta recommends Casa Guci for great pizza & reasonably priced rooms, Tel. 828 686540 & for Shiatsu Massage - Elouise Motzouris 842 729117.
